LinkedIn 2017 – How to use new look LinkedIn
http://www.prwilsonmedia.com LinkedIn new desktop 2017 Hi Paul here from PRwilson Media, your social media personal trainer. And hold on a minute! What’s happened with LinkedIn. There’s a brand new 2017 interface that’s being rolled out to everybody out there. And I’ve just got it today, I was literally doing a client review , a video review and I was like ah, hang on what’s happened here. So let me just quickly talk you through the basics and then we’ll drill down in separate videos, because I’m going to have to rerecord a lot of stuff here. So first thing you are going to notice is a lot of things are available not from these top menus , where there were submenus and everything like that , but its all sort of there on the page. You can click on different things. And this is deliberate. This is around making it tie up with how you use LinkedIn mobile . On the go, simple to get around , simple to navigate , much cleaner interface. So that’s the whole thinking behind this. Not just to make it more Facebookesque but that’s certainly appears noticeable but let’s take a look at the different sections. So home was where you’d share updates and that’s still there. It’s all under one button now. “Write an article” and that would be either to create a LinkedIn blog article or to just share a current update. My network is what connections would be. So that’s again everyone that you are connected with in more detail. Jobs is on the recruitment side of things – I’m not going to go through that in any detail. Messaging, notifications – that’s where you can see who’s sent you a connection request, who’s been in touch, so that’s much more simplified. So what’s gone is the interests menu which had the company pages and groups. So we will look to see where you find that information. And this profile, edit profile that’s all under the personal icon here. So under me, if your remember on the old version it would be in the right hand corner you would have your settings and privacy. Well that’s all under this one “me”button. So you’ve got privacy settings , but you’ve also got the chance to go through to your profile here. So let’s just start with that. I’ll show you a couple of things here. I don’t want to make this too long , just want to let you know that there’s going to be more videos to come . So I can see all of my information , the personal headline in a kind of rolling format. But then you get the summary of the things that you have published. Anything that you’ve done in terms of activity. You can see your contact information that you’ve put in there. And so, the content is still the same in terms of what’s physically in there which is good news you wouldn’t want it to disappear. But it’s just finding your way around that is going to be that bit different. Looking here just quickly at the search bar there was that advanced search next to search – that’s gone now. I’ve also looked into search and where you could save searches which I found really useful as a free member , you can’t now , that’s the bad news. You have to just go and search for something each time you want to look for it. Whatever you’ve put in there is remembered from previously , but if I just search for a general term like networking , what will come up in the results are a series of options. Top people , jobs, companies groups, schools. Similar sort of options you used to have in advanced search you could narrow it down by location. And not just selecting countries but you could also have quite a wide results set if there’s 17 million people on LinkedIn in the UK alone. You can even add your own details. So let’s use NG1 – so it doesn’t work really with a postcode. Just type in Lincoln. Right, so the real learning here to do and particularly for me is to get these videos out there so you can get your head around what’s different. I think it’s going to be a positive thing. With all these changes that you get over the years, once it settles down , when everybody starts to use the same thing it becomes faster. So that’s it for now , I’m Paul from PRwilson Media your social media personal trainer.
